Saudi Health Transformation Program Boosts Life Expectancy to 78.8 Years

RIYADH: The Health Sector Transformation Program has played a key role in increasing Saudi Arabia’s average life expectancy to 78.8 years in 2024, up from 74 years in 2016, officials announced.

This improvement is credited to a range of comprehensive health policies focused on prevention and early detection.

These include efforts to reduce harmful ingredients in food products such as hydrogenated oils and excess salt and to enhance screening for chronic diseases like diabetes, obesity, and cancer.

The program also emphasizes upgrading treatment services and strengthening the healthcare workforce.

Authorities have enhanced the efficiency and quality of care for citizens, residents, and visitors by investing in professional training and modern diagnostic tools.

These initiatives support the program’s broader goal of improving public health and align with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 target of raising the national life expectancy to 80 years.
